Medical Software Group, LLC was founded in 2008 by Company president and CEO, Scott Oxenhandler, MD FHM. Dr. Oxenhandler has been a practicing internist since 1987 and was a founding member in June, 2004 of The Memorial Hospitalist Group at Memorial Healthcare System in Hollywood, FL.

The Memorial Hospitalist Group

The Memorial Hospitalist Group is a progressive people-oriented group. We practice within the Memorial Healthcare System, employing the latest technology in patient care and medical informatics. Memorial Healthcare System has been a leader in providing high quality healthcare services to South Florida residents for more than 50 years. Our hospitalist practice is based at Memorial Regional Hospital which is the Healthcare System’s flagship facility and one of the largest hospitals in the state of Florida, and also operates at Memorial Hospital Pembroke, a smaller community affiliate. The WebHospitalist® application was developed to manage all aspects of this vibrant hospitalist group.

Since our inception in June, 2004, we have grown rapidly from four physicians to our current 27 doctors and 2 ARNPs. In addition, we employ another 10 part-time physicians, mainly for weekend coverage. Our duties have evolved from traditional hospitalist services to our current participation in the ICU step-down unit, and support for the hospital’s Rapid Response Team. Our average daily census hovers between 200 and 225 at our two locations, with 25 to 35 admissions per day, and our patient population consists of 50% self pay, 20% Medicaid, 15% Medicare, 10% charity, and 5% managed care and miscellaneous others. We see all the indigent, self pay, charity, and unassigned patients at our facilities, and are in-house 24/7/365. Our schedule is a blend of block and rotating call, evening swing shifts, and dedicated night floats.
